Split release from Joseph Bastardo and Ryan Mulhall, the two halves of Looks Realistic. Roots, leaves, moss and dirt. Each half is a distinct take on tape recording and manipulation, using synthesizers and sampling keyboards. Both sides were edited, mixed and arranged at Moss Archive, in the forest-valley of New Hampshire's White Mountains.
Edition of 100 hand-numbered, pro-dubbed, imprinted audio cassettes.

// Trills / Charlie Naked - əˈnɛmənii

The final album by Trills. The cover drawings were by Denis Cisneros, who also plays guitar on a couple of tracks. I was given access to his sketchbook, from which I assembled several collages for the cover images.

It's a real shame that this is the final Trills release, because it is probably my favorite thing Jonathan has done thus far. Absolutely beautiful pieces that weave between acoustic sound collages, radiating synthesizer waves, and manipulated piano/guitar pieces. A beautiful final statement from Trills.



The Charlie Naked half consists of enormous deep drones, constantly shifting focal points before you. This is stuff you get lost in. Created with a plethora of instruments at his home studio in Houston, TX. Naked's been doing it since 1995 and it shows.

Proud to share my artwork for the debut album from Safety Danger. The solo project of Ryan Mulhall. Bright, colorful melodies built around a lo-fi Yamaha keyboard. Soaring vocals and synth laser-blasts surround the intricate loops. This image was a collaborative effort between Ryan and myself.

// Boreal Network - Means Business

So psyched to finally be able to post this. Boreal Network's amazing new album. Probably going to be one of my favorites of the year. It's a free download from retronym.co.uk

Means Business is a record that begins by looking directly into the heart of the corporate art aesthetic, using the fictitious Boreal Network organization itself as a lens through which to peer into a world of glistening office parks and freshly printed documents.

The first half of the record gleams with polish and bravado, promising high rates of return and prosperity. As the album progresses however, sounds and themes suggest a gritty, polluted reality lurking beyond the shining facade of industry. The latter portion of Means Business is pocked with distorted, dirty sounds and leering, noxious synths, as the proud image of Boreal Network steadily becomes completely choked out by smog and desolation.

when you open your debut with the sounds of a modem connecting to the internet, you really have to deliver. massachusetts resident joe bastardo lets you know from the first spectrum that he's not fucking around. rhythmic casio spells cast with a wide ’90s web filter in through a slanted prism. with titles like "vaporware," "the TAG towers" and "windows 97 / in reality" you'd be forgiven if your mind drifts toward ferraro-isms, but bastardo's soundtrack runs less underwater and more straight at your throat. "ported" is a pre-apocalyptic cybergasm.

Here is my artwork for the latest EP from White Mountains. Lightforms is shimmering and smooth. Like floating through a city street at night. There is a sense of propulsion throughout the album. Great for late nights and early mornings.

I am proud to finally share my artwork for Blue Metabolic Sunrise, the next album by Trills. This collection of retro-futuristic passages finds Jonathan Jindra experimenting with bubbly, analog textures. Many of the songs are based off of live improvisations on various synthesizers. This approach lends itself to a wonderfully organic sound.

The album will be released on cd-digipak, and as a digital download on Retronym Records. For the digital download, I designed a different psychedelic image to go along with each of the nine songs. Download your copy here to see them all.

sam gas can is one to leave you wondering endlessly and wandering aimlessly. it all starts with a low-key dance party for your favorite haunted asylum. manic voices and near-tribal beats plummet like a meteor through the clouds. you walk into this mental ward with no fucken clue how you got there. luckily there’s clarity on the horizon in the form of uber-melodic synth passages that will guide you like a drunken sailor back to the shore. the morning brings pump organ catharsis that’s bathed in warm white light. hypnotic vocals fill the air while the melodies grind along underneath. it’s blindingly emotive – you can’t help but be drawn in by the familiar comforts of each note that gently takes you home. beautiful stuff from one of the most underappreciated artists in massachussetts.
